In contrast to last year’s event, we had good visibility for the whole of this year’s Hathersage Night Race, along with a smattering of snow.

This was my second time doing this particular race, and I followed last year’s template of sticking with Alex on the uphill whilst holding a bit in reserve to try and keep up when he tore off downhill. Everything played out in almost an exact copy of last year, and I was within a gnat’s whisker of my 2024 time so I’m happy with that. We did temporarily lose Alex’s sister, who chose this as her first fell race, but disaster was averted and we finished up with smiles all ’round.
