It rather seems I’ve opened Pandora’s box. I’ve never really been bothered about fast cars before now, but a few laps of the nearby circuit in a Nissan GT-R have changed all of that.<\/p>\n

My brother and I have birthdays two days apart, so last weekend I used this as an excuse to get him a drive in a Ferrari 360 Spider<\/a> for his birthday, and get myself a drive in the GT-R<\/a>. Prestwold circuit<\/a> is about half a mile from my house<\/a> as the crow flies, and the cars refuel at the garage in the village. This means I’m constantly seeing Lamborghinis and Ferraris* driving through the village, but it’s the GT-R which has always looked the prettiest.<\/p>\n

I’m not going to blab on about how stunning the GT-R was, both visually and in terms of performance, because I’m not convinced it’ll make very interesting reading. Suffice to say that it can lay power down in the most incredible fashion, feeling solid absolutely everywhere. By the end of the session I was really flooring it out of the bends, and it barely even noticed. Absolutely amazing. So, in lieu of ramblings from me, have some nice photos instead.<\/p>\n

Gareth was just as taken with the 360, finding it a proper supercar as opposed to the more comfort-oriented (but still fast) Astons he’s driven before. I’m pretty sure he’ll never get rid of that Aston soft-spot though (just as well, because he’s not driving my GT-R when I get one).<\/p>\n

So to conclude, driving a car flat-out for the first time was lots of fun, and makes my morning commute seem quite dull now. I seem to have found another pastime which involves haemorrhaging money, but by God it’s fun.<\/p>\n
