MPS 2025

Another year, another MPS trip. Penruddock was calling, and after the usual Friday-night excitement of continual arrivals we reconvened on Saturday morning for a trip around the northern fells.

Abraham’s Tea Round

After a couple of abortive pandemic-struck attempts at a Paddy Buckley round, I decided to stop focussing on a load of hills I’ve already run across hundreds of times, and strike out for somewhere new instead.

Busy busy

It’s been a fairly hectic run up to Christmas, with wild camping, running, and snowy running.

Lakes MTB

It was “off to the Lake District” last weekend, for the annual Bowline MTB weekend.

Not-so-Great End

The coldest night ever in a tent, followed by a lethargic walk-in, an abandoned climb up Cust’s Gully, and a sleep of over an hour in the services on the way home.

Marmot Dark Mountains 2016

Hooray, a mountain marathon in the Lake District! At night. In January. With a weather warning. What could possibly go wrong?

It starts…

First snow of the year a couple of weekends ago in the Lakes with a bunch of (now mostly ex-) MPS people. A leisurely stroll over Striding Edge, Helvellyn and the Dodds on Saturday was followed by a lovely pub dinner…
